When I started on this sheet,
I had originally thought I would make it a dream journal
(notice the “dreams” at the very top center and the phases of the moon on the left).
After I had painted the watercolor background, though, I was more inspired to write one of my favorite Mary Oliver poems,
Wild Geese. I was working on several styles of lettering,
including an upright italic using a folded pen.
